Sarah Jenkins wins BBC composition prize - October 2017

Congratulations to Sarah on winning first prize for the senior category in the BBC Proms Inspire Young Composers' Competition 2017! She won the top prize for her piece Three Miniatures of Ynws Lawd which was then played at a special Proms composers' concert. This was broadcast on Radio 3 soon afterwards alongside an interview with Sarah.

Sarah Jenkins started at Matrix Arts Centre when she was four years old, studying with Lindsay MacKenzie on the Junior Music Course, graduating to the extension and advanced courses and continuing with piano lessons. She worked with Lindsay on several compositions during her time at Matrix, and it has been a privilege to see her own particular style developing over the years.

Sarah is currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, with first study clarinet - the RWCMD have written about her success on their blog too with some photos of the event:
